Ch.14 Strange Parchment

Updated: Jan 10, 2021

Fang Jing didn't expect Yang Jian to hang up so decisively, giving him no room for negotiation.

He just wanted to perfuse Yang Jian first, so that when he left school safely, he would not hesitate to deny any promises he made and refused to hand over the parchment.

But, Yang Jian's decisiveness and straightforwardness caused him to panic.

And even more deadly was that the footsteps behind him have appeared again.

Yang Jian’s previous guidance was only to temporarily free him from the ghost behind him.

"What do I do, what do I do? What the hell do I do? I definitely can't get out of here without Yang Jian's help. I will definitely die in the hands of the ghost. I can’t die here. My future has just begun. With the parchment, I can definitely achieve great heights, how can I die here? "

Fang Jing’s heart raced, cold sweat broke out on his face, he subconsciously continued to run, hoping to stay away from the footsteps behind him.

But still to no avail, the footsteps behind him were getting closer.

The darkness around him seemed to get heavier, like it could swallow people whole now.

"No, no, I can't die. He can have the parchment. Yang Jian’s right. If I die, no matter how much information I have, it’ll all be useless, I’ve got a general understanding of the information about the future anyways. The parchment isn’t as valuable to me as I think."

Under the threat of death, there’s no cost too great.

Fang Jing's used his shaking hands and fumbled with his phone, calling Zhang Wei’s number again.

"Beep, beep."

The call connected.

"I’ll give you the parchment, I’ll give it to you, as long as you promise to get me out of here." Before the other side could speak, he spoke first.

Yang Jian's voice came from the other end: "Throw the parchment on the ground, I’ll come and get it."

Fang Jing didn’t try any funny business, he took out a sheet of a dark brown paper from his pocket without any hesitation, and threw it on the ground.

"I’ve done it, now save me, quickly, I want to live."

Yang Jian said; "I’ll tell you how to get rid of the ghost behind you first. Go to your right."

"Okay, thanks, thanks." Fang Jing panicked, and hurriedly followed Yang Jian's instructions.

“Now turn right again." Yang Jian continued.

Fang Jing did so again, and its effect was immediately apparent.

He gradually pulled away from the footsteps behind him, until it finally disappeared completely. Fang Jing was both surprised and happy, knowing that he was safe, at least for now.

“Dumbass."

Yang Jian put down the phone, a sneer appeared on his face, he stopped walking, watching Fang Jing running around like a headless chicken in front of him while wearing an expression of joy, he couldn’t help but find it funny .

The footsteps behind Fang Jing weren't from a ghost.

It was him.

Indeed, there was no ghost following Fang Jing, the only one following him around was Yang Jian.

Having encountered a ghost before, add the fact that he couldn't through the darkness in the ghost’s domain. Who knew that the person behind him was actually a person?

"So this is the parchment that contains information about the future?" Yang Jian picked up the thing from the ground.

The brown leather is soft and cold, as if it was just taken out of an industrial freezer, an unknown and strange atmosphere surrounded it.

As soon as he held it, the eye on the back of his hand opened up uncontrollably, emitting a faint red light.

"This is not sheepskin... it's human skin, and there’s something wrong about this." His instincts were blaring at him, this cautionary though emerged in the back of his mind.

Flipping it open by its folds, he had a look..

There is a line written on parchment paper.

"My name is Fang Jing. When you’re reading this letter, I am already dead. Don’t be surprised. I am you, ten years later. I’m now telling you information about the future through special means. Please remember the following information firmly."

"Ghosts have appeared in this world, this is not a joke, it will be too late when you find out about this, and you’ll be at least half a year behind the other ghost users. "

"Be careful of your classmate Yang Jian. He is terrifying in the future... I was killed by him, so you must kill Yang Jian in advance, or you will definitely die by his hands in the future. Remember to kill Yang Jian."

"On June 20, you will be having a study session in the evening, that’s when you will encounter the Interpol Zhou Zheng who will explain some special knowledge for you. This is very important. Zhou Zheng is an interpol of the Asian subregion, codenamed Guiying Zhou Zheng. But he is just a passerby, pay too much attention to him."

t/n: Gui Ying is ghost baby/infant in chinese

"Be careful of the newborn that came out of his body, that thing will grow, and in a few months the ghost baby will grow into... I recommend you to stay away...otherwise you’ll die."

“You must join Interpol as soon as possible..."

"Remember...gold...paper."

"Stay away... escape."

"...Ghost..."

Just as Yang Jian was getting to this information, he found that the writing on the parchment was rapidly becoming blurred and dimmed.

Key information was being constantly erased by some unknown power, it wasn’t long before all of it had completely disappeared before his eyes. The page originally densely packed with notes had now become a blank page.

Like characters on a computer, they were being deleted one by one.

Yang Jian hadn’t gotten to anything useful yet and the characters on the parchment that held information about the future had all been erased .

"What’s going on?"

His frown deepened, flipping the parchment up and down.

All the writing actually just disappeared without a trace at all.

Faced with this phenomenon, Yang Jian couldn't help but think of a movie he had seen before. If the past changes, the future will also change.

Could it be that him taking away Fang Jing’s parchment that contains information about the future caused him in the future to erase the information he had written?

However, Yang Jian hadn’t even gone that far along his train of thought before he saw characters appearing on the parchment again.

They appeared in front of his eyes, like an invisible person holding a pen was writing on the parchment constantly.

“My name is Yang Jian. When you’re reading this letter, I am already dead. I am you, ten years later, and I’m now telling you information about the future through special means..."

Yang Jian’s heart tumbled over its own rhythm as he looked at the parchment in his hand, his pupils shrank to the size of a pinhole: "What the hell is this..."

This is definitely not a parchment that contains information about the future.

He can feel the eeriness and animosity coming from that piece of human skin. The words that appeared just now were absolutely not erased by Fang Jing in the future, it had erased its own words voluntarily.

As soon as it changed owners, it had to erase the information written for its previous owner, and it’s now writing something for Yang Jian.

“I absolutely cannot trust what it writes down, this isn’t something I should keep."

Yang Jian's eyes gleamed, feeling a deep fear of the unknown.

He looked around, and he wanted to throw the human skin into a sewer, making it disappear forever.

But a series of words appeared on the parchment: Don't throw it away, don't throw it away… I can help you.

...Without me, you’ll die… you’ll die

Soon all the writings disappeared, only two words remained: keep me, keep me, keep me.

The words were repeated constantly, they were messy, scribbled onto the parchment with no regard for composition, the same words in different sizes kept appearing, eventually covering the entire human skin.
